Sewage Treatment Systems

Areas we cover

Based at Handley Wood, Chesterfield — working across Derbyshire, South Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire, and supplying systems UK-wide and into Europe.

07884 111 641

Our yard is at Handley Wood, Whittington Road, Chesterfield S43 2PW, and our core area runs from the Peak District across to north Nottinghamshire and north into South Yorkshire. We empty, install, service and repair with our own tankers, jetting units and camera kit — so a call-out is our crew, not a subcontractor.

Off-mains drainage is a rural business. The towns on this list are mostly on the public sewer; the work is in the villages, farms, converted buildings and cottages around them. Pick the area nearest you for what we do there and the ground conditions that affect it — or just call and tell us the postcode.

Not on the list?

These are the areas we work in most often, not a boundary. We regularly travel further — Birmingham and the wider Midlands to the south, Leeds and up to the Kendal area to the north — and we supply sewage treatment systems and septic tanks UK-wide and across Europe. If you only need a system delivered, we can do that too.

Call 07884 111 641 with your postcode and we will tell you straight away whether it is something we can get to.

How we are set up to cover this much ground

The reason we work across three counties rather than one town is that we own the equipment. Our own vacuum tankers, our own jetting units, our own camera and tracing kit, on our own vehicles. Nothing is subcontracted, so a call-out in Bakewell is our crew rather than whoever a national firm could find that morning.

It also means we can combine jobs sensibly. If a drain needs jetting and the tank needs emptying, that is one visit rather than two firms blaming each other. On a survey we can trace the drains, inspect the tank and look at the drainage field in the same trip.

What changes from one area to the next

  • The ground. Clay around Clay Cross and Alfreton needs large drainage fields; limestone around Bolsover, Bakewell and Buxton often needs a treatment plant instead; Sherwood sandstone around Mansfield and Worksop drains well but sits over an aquifer.
  • The access. Steep lanes around Matlock and Dronfield, long farm tracks in the Peak, narrow village streets in Wirksworth — all affect how a tanker reaches a tank.
  • The rules. National Park and conservation area constraints apply across much of the west of our patch; groundwater source protection zones matter in north Nottinghamshire.
  • The season. On exposed sites above Buxton, Glossop or Bradfield, winter access is a genuine limit — those properties are best scheduled for autumn.

Each area page sets out what applies locally, because a system designed for one of these conditions will not perform in another.

Coverage questions

Frequently asked

Do you charge extra for travelling to the further areas?

Distance is one factor in a price, not a surcharge bolted on afterwards. A job in Chesterfield and the same job in Buxton are priced for what each takes. If you are a long way out we will say so when you call rather than on the invoice.

My village is not on the list — do you still cover it?

Almost certainly. These are the towns people search for; the work itself is in the villages and farms around them. Call with your postcode and we will tell you straight away.

How quickly can you get to an emergency?

It depends where you are. Within half an hour of Chesterfield we are usually quick. On the far edges — Glossop, Ashbourne, Retford — it takes longer, and we will give you a realistic time rather than an optimistic one.

Do you supply systems outside your working area?

Yes. We supply sewage treatment systems and septic tanks UK-wide and into Europe for customers who have their own groundworks contractor. We recently took an enquiry from Quebec.

Which areas do you cover for emergency call-outs?

Our core patch — Derbyshire, Sheffield and South Yorkshire, and north Nottinghamshire — 24 hours a day. Further out we will still come, but the honest answer on timing changes with the distance.
